Bruce Taylor Scholarship
Application Deadline: April 30 (5:00 p.m. EST)
This is a $5,000 scholarship award. For the 2025 award cycle, 4 scholarships will be awarded.
The Bruce Taylor Scholarship is a $5,000 scholarship award that supports the best and brightest among our members’ nursing staff to achieve a higher level of education in a field related to long term care nursing. Applicants should be employed in a FHCA member facility with a length of employment of at least six (6) months; be currently accepted in an accredited school to become a LPN, RN, or ARNP; and be willing to pledge that, upon successful completion of all coursework and licensure as a LPN, RN, or ARNP, will work as such in a FHCA member facility for at least one year.
This scholarship was named after Bruce Taylor, FHCA President from 1980-82, who was instrumental in moving the association to Tallahassee and negotiated on the Gainesville Plan, Florida’s first-ever Medicaid reimbursement plan for nursing centers. During FHCA’s 1983 Annual Conference, the first annual scholarship awards from the Bruce Taylor Scholarship fund were made. A generous contribution from Ross Laboratories established the fund, with a significant donation made by the family of the late Bruce Taylor to perpetuate the scholarship. Today, this scholarship is funded in part from an Alliant Community Health Impact Grant and proceeds raised from the FHCA annual Golf Tournament.
